You Need To Get Out Of Your Own Head
Life is simple. When you arrived at this page, you likely had a different opinion. All the struggles you are facing, the job that you have which sucks your soul out of you, the relationship which doesn’t satisfy you or make you happy, the poor friendships and relationships you have with the people around you, including your family. The lack of will or desire or purpose, and no sense of direction. “You don’t get it, you don’t understand my struggle”.
Bullshit. We all have struggles. We all have demons. If you wanna play the game of quantifying your demons and comparing them to other people’s demons, and thereby justifying feeling sorry for yourself, you will never get anywhere. There will always be someone with tougher life circumstances than you, and likely there are way more people which you think are happy that are actually suffering far worse than you could possibly imagine. Yet, there are still so many people who are successful in crushing their obstacles and winning at life.
Now, why do you think that is? Is it because whatever struggle comes their way, they curl over, suck their thumb and beg for their mama? Is it because they are a warrior, born and molded by the ancient Greek Gods to fight the beasts from the depths of hell and feel no fear or stress, and are just naturally made to be winners since birth?
No. My friend, we are all able to do what we want in life. Whatever it is that life throws upon you, you, and only you, have the responsibility of what you do with what gets thrown at you. Do you let it get to you? Do you let it suck up your time and eat your life and soul away? Or do you rise above it, separate yourself from it, and forge ahead on your desired path in life?
Well, you might ask, where the fuck do I begin? My advice to you, my friend, is to start by getting out of your own head. I will come back with more insights into how to do so, and also the different aspects of getting out of your head that noone else talks about, but I will give some advice which I hope you can start to apply right now.
Starting now, whenever during the day you notice that you start to think about others’ perception of you, do whatever it is that you fear doing. Even if this means saying hi to the cashier, or dancing randomly in the street in front of crowds, whatever you can muster up the courage to do, start doing. Confidence, courage, taking action, is a self-fulfilling prophecy that keeps snowballing if you actively build it, and keep doing more and more uncomfortable things that get you out of your own head and into your body and the present moment. Exercise, cathartic shouting, bioenergetics (and many popular teachers of this you can learn from) all help, and I will also come back with a new approach to this in due time (and maybe sooner than later depending on how many of you ask for it) which requires just your mind.
So, to remind you, life is simple. But that stance is a choice. You have to believe it, and if you don’t, then you need to make yourself believe it. Force yourself out of your head by consistently doing something that takes you out of your comfort zone repeatedly throughout the day, and you will realize that all the struggles are just in your mind, and not real. Life begins now, and you can be happy now.
Now wake up and go do the thing you want to do.
Peace, speak soon.
